Let’s assume you have decided not to sit back and wait for men or women to make the first contact with you. You’ve done a search, and you’ve come up with some prospects. You’re ready to let the person know that you’re interested. You’re wondering exactly what to say or do. You can break the process into steps:
1. You send the individual a wink, an instant message, or an email. If you send a message, focus on a fact of interest in the person’s profile. Ask a question about that fact, or mention that you have the same interest or have had the same experience.
2. You move to the next level; you listen and engage the person in a regular dialog. Remember to build on anything positive or intriguing in the person’s profile.
3. You exchange email or instant messages.
4. You start talking on the phone.
S. You arrange an in person meeting.
Online dating doesn’t always work out in a step-by step way, of course, because these are human beings we are talking about. Think about the inverted pyramid system that journalists use when they are writing stories. You start out with a general statement and move to more specific comments.
Using Your Dating Site’s Messaging System
Every dating website has a communication system that it wants its members to use rather than their own email account. There are plenty of good reasons for making the initial contact using the internal system. The primary ones are safety and privacy.
if you can avoid using your regular email address (the one you get from your Internet service provider), you’ll reduce the chances that someone will be able to track down your real world address or send you unsolicited email.
Winking
For many people, the thought of flirting harkens back to dances in the high school gym where you try to be irresistible to the object of your affection and end up with a blank stare at best and a rude retort at worst. Thanks to online dating, you don’t have to be good at flirting. When you are looking for people online, you can flirt without having to worry about clever remarks, puns, double entendres, winks, arm touches, or the like. You just send a quick flirtatious message. It’s safe and non-threatening; if someone isn’t interested, he or she just won’t respond. You can send out a group of flirts and see who responds.
Messaging for Insiders
Once a wink has been sent, the recipient will typically respond with an encouraging message through the dating service’s own message system. Internal messaging systems aren’t the same as Internet email; the dating service stores and routes messages itself so that anyone who is not a registered user is unable to contact members directly unless they manage to obtain the member’s email address.
Many dating services instruct their members to use their own message system for greater privacy. And they’re right. The message system is a good way for members to get to know one another without running any of the risks that plague Internet users, such as spam, viruses, or hackers intercepting their correspondence. And an internal messaging system allows users to remain anonymous.
But because the dating service runs the message system, you don’t have total privacy. The dating website itself can store and inspect your message if it wishes. By switching email, you give up some of the chance that you’ll remain anonymous. But you gain more control and a sense of freedom. And you can pick up your email from you cell phone or PDA, if you have one that is able to do so. Stick with the message system for your initial communications until you are comfortable with emailing someone outside the service’s system. Don’t give out your address or other contact information, either.
Switching to Email
There’s no rule about when to switch to your email address for communicating with someone rather than using the dating service’s message system. You don’t have to do email at all, if you are comfortable with the internal messaging. That’s the deciding factor: the amount of comfort you have with the system and with the person with whom you are communicating. Switch to your own email software if you like it better than the dating website’s system.
The best thing is to have a writing style that is light and breezy while not revealing too much about yourself initially. That last sentence is difficult to achieve online. The temptation is get so excited by a positive response to start sharing all sorts of intimate details. Think about meeting someone for the first time while reaching for the same martini at a cocktail party. What would be the result if you immediately started spilling your guts about your last love affair or your most recent surgery? At best, you’d be off putting because you’re coming on too strong too quickly. At worst, you could disclose information that could be used against you.
Instant Messaging/Text Messaging
You’ll make a positive impression on a certain segment of the population (read: young and trendy) if you make your first approach by IM or your cell phone’s text messaging system. If you are on the road and on the go, it can be really handy to contact potential dates this way.
But instant messaging works only if it’s what you and your potential date want to begin with. Instant messaging and text messaging can be a big invasion of privacy, and you should message someone only after you’ve asked, and only after you have approached them by email first.

When the internet first began to be used for online dating many people turned their back on it. There was a certain stigma attached to anyone who used such a site. They were said to be desperate or only weirdo’s hung out on such sites. Fortunately with the passage of time these dating sites have gained wide spread acceptance to the point that many of them now advertise their services on major media outlets in TV and radio.
In fact there are thousands of singles across the globe who have successfully found a relationship match for themselves using an online dating service. What was once looked as an avenue for the desperate has become the normal main stream way for hundreds of thousands of people to meet one another.
The internet has changed the way our lives are lived, not only with the exchange of information and shopping opportunities but also the way in which we meet people and begin dating. That being said it does take some work to successfully use an online dating site. Computer and internet users are more sophisticated and aware of how this venue can be abused. While there are more and more people using online dating sites everyday they are more cognizant of who and what type of person they are looking for.
The nice thing about making contact with someone online is that you will already know something about them from their personality profile, which most online dating services require of their members. It makes finding someone who you might share interests with much easier when you can actually search for that type of thing. Many sites screen their members before they allow them access and protect the identity of all their members until you choose to reveal your true self to someone you are interested in.
Probably the best thing about internet dating is the ability to do all your membership tasks from the comfort of your own home. There is not the pressure we all feel the first time we that face to face meeting. Getting to know someone you are interested in can take place in safety of the dating site. Once you are comfortable with that person then you can decide if and when you would actually like to meet them.
Using an online dating personals website is just the natural evolution of the dating world. Back before the internet there were such things as dating agencies and the dating sites of today are just extensions of what those agencies used to provide. With the one difference that you can meet anyone from just about any part of the world giving you the opportunity to meet that special someone who will share a lifelong relationship with you.

As a married adult, what are your responsibilities in marriage? What did you learn in school or at home about responsibility and accountability in life? Ninety-nine percent of high school graduates know nothing about how a relationship works. How could they, most of them have dated since they were twelve and had sex with five or ten different partners? They have been mentally and emotionally abused.
Dating is a negative sexual thing and is a form of mental abuse, even though it is very much physical. Each time a teenager has sex they are losing a valuable part of themselves; it’s called self-respect. Of course, they may not see it that way, but look at the divorce rates. Look at how married couples treat each other. They graduate from school believing that love is sex and sex is love. Then what happens? They get married and are needy and insecure or have other issues that affect the marriage. This makes them sponge off of each other for love and other emotional needs they are yearning for, instead of each giving love voluntarily the way it is supposed to be.
Is it the schools responsibility to teach about responsibility and accountability? No, I don’t think so. Is it the parent’s responsibility? It surely is. So then what is happening with that? I’m sorry, but I don’t see it. I just don’t see where most couples in marriage are taking responsibility for their marriages. They need to step up to the plate and take responsibility! But instead, they are handing their marriage over to the state. “Here, you deal with it, it’s your problem now”.
Where is the responsibility and accountability? That’s what I want to know. If my right arm was giving me problems and was in pain, should I get a new one? If my son or daughter treated me badly, should I get rid of him or her, and find another son or daughter? If my husband committed adultery, should I commit adultery too? If my car started losing oil, should I buy a whole new car? If I stopped feeling euphoric in love in my marriage, should I get a new spouse?
The truth be told, couples are confusing marriage with dating. They somehow associate being married to just dating and having sex. There is no commitment in the marriage relationship anymore, there is no morals or principles anymore, and when they get tired of being married to that marriage partner, they can dump them and get a whole new marriage partner, again, just like they once did when they were dating. And then, they can repeat the cycle all over again.
How can we start taking responsibility and be accountable for our part in the marriage? First, get divorce completely out of your mind. Second, start taking responsibility, and admit your failings and work on getting the big fat log out of your own eye and let your spouse work on getting the sliver out of theirs. Third, be devoted to one another through respect and acceptance of each other. Stop blaming and accusing one another; leave each other alone, and watch love come back into the marriage.
